The Kelly Danse was first designed by Jean-Paul Gaultier as a reinterpretation of the iconic Kelly bag, offering the unique ability to transform into seven different styles. Hermes embraces this idea of transformation and multi-functionality, where every buckle and strap has a purpose. Through genius simplicity, the classic Kelly body is softened, and by adjusting the long single strap, it can be worn in seven ways: as a shoulder bag at two different lengths, crossbody, around the waist, as a backpack, as a wristlet, or remove the strap entirely to carry it as a clutch. Initially produced for just a few seasons, the Kelly Danse quickly became a rare collector’s piece. Hermes has since re-released the design, and this store-fresh example is done in black Swift leather with gold hardware. While the second run has been limited, this piece remains an exceptional find.
