The Hermes Constance bag, first designed by Catherine Chaillet in 1959, was named after her fifth child, Constance, who was born the same day the first Constance left Hermes’ production workshop. With its leather shoulder strap that allows the bag to hang freely, it became a favorite of former First Lady Jacqueline Kennedy, helping to popularize the Constance among Hollywood’s elite.
